La Lumiere started in 1998 as the vision of Chris in Joplin, Missouri. She hand-made some products for a fundraiser for
her church, and everyone LOVED what she'd made. Afterwards, her family and friends kept requesting more of her
products, so she established her company and called it La Lumiere. The French translation of La Lumiere, "The Light",
seemed a perfect fit for her candle company, not only for obvious reasons, but because she and her family are devout
Christians.
After several years of making candles in the basement of her home for her local market, Chris went online and created
the website for La Lumiere. In doing so, she began to reach thousands of customers all throughout the country. As her
sales increased, it became necessary to move into a warehouse and hire some help. In 2003, she began adding a Bath &
Body line and started offering a Personalized Custom Labeling service to her wholesale customers. With low order
minimums and affordable custom labeling, many small businesses throughout the country began purchasing her products
and services.
In 2005, Chris began to realize that her company had indeed become very successful...so successful, that she was
spending all her time working instead of enjoying time with her family. As she began spreading the word that she was
interested in selling her company, she had a part-time employee with a son and daughter-in-law, and thought this was a
perfect fit for them.
Jason & Judy Meinershagen had been looking for a family business they could start for several years. After weeks of
prayer, we approached Chris with an offer to purchase La Lumiere. In April, 2006 the sale became official.
We live in St. Charles County, Missouri in the metro St. Louis area. We are devout Christians with three children. When
we purchased La Lumiere, we moved all operations to the St. Louis metro area where we personally hand pour and hand
make all our candles and bath & body products. We have and will always strive to continue La Lumiere down the same
path the former owner started. We believe strongly that God has led us into this venture and controls our lives, so we
put Him first and seek His will in all we do. We pride ourselves in our work, seeking perfection in our product quality
and excellence in our customer service. As our website shows, our company's bible verse is Matthew 5:16 "In the
same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in
heaven." As we work to make our company successful, we thank our customers...without you we don't have a job. We
